All my mum wanted for christmas was a DVD of her grandaughter singing, dancing etc. So I attempted my first DVD. I have a DVD HDD thing for my tv. I loaded the digital video onto the HDD, and it played fine. Did some editing, all went fine. Plays perfectly off HDD. Then I burnt it to DVD-R disc. Gave it to mum but it wouldnt play on her DVD or anyone elses, just mine. Then I learnt "finalise" So now it actually will play on her DVD, but for some reason every 18 seconds (timed it with a stop watch) it pauses for about 1 second.

Can anyone tell me why?

Its LG. Mums DVD is some no name brand thing, but my uncle has recorded dvd-r stuff for her and it works OK.

Actually I have found that the cheap no name dvd players will play more formats than the main brands. It seems they dont care less about region codes and copyright and burnt dvd's/

Try a +R disc, or a dual layer disc, or try burning the data at 1x or 2x speed, but the 18 sec pause to me suggests a buffering problem with the player. Have you tried the same disc in a different DVD player?

Hint: More expensive DVD players generally have a larger, faster buffer.
A POSSE AD ESSE.
