hi ,can anyone tell me if type one transaxles are the same as type 3 transaxles?
type 1 ,type 3 transaxles,same?

IRS or swing axle??
swing is the same axles as a 1500 beetle (68 on except IRS), but the ratios are different.
IRS has different ratios too.
On some the selector shaft may be indented for grub screw only top(beetle) or bottom(type 3)
extension housing is different also in the later years.
If you are a little more specific you may get a better idea!

looking at 72 type 3 irs to fit in a early beetle ,going to either do irs conversion or 69 irs pan to early body
