Competing in my first Triathlon in close to 5 years, my last outing was Forster Ironman 2002 & then life got in the road of all the time it took to compete at the level that I was used to.
On sunday morning a sprint distance Triathlon is being held in Taree (also for the first time in 5 years) so I've dusted off the speedo's, bike & running shoes, put together a solid 3 weeks of training & I'm going to have a crack at it.
Wont be setting any records, just want to finish & hopefully get the competitive juices flowing again (Masters Games are on later this year).

Thinking I might be in a whole world of pain in Monday morning.

Race report will follow.

Cheers
Brendan

Thanks guys, the distances are 500m swim, 20km bike & 5km run which is not really a problem, the hurt will come from racing harder than I should do on the limited amount of training Ive done.

See what happens I spose.

Cheers
Brendan

OK, so the race has now been run & won, & I must say I'm fairly happy with the way I raced & recovered.
I finished in 1hr 7mins (about 8mins behind the leader) & won my age group (35-39yrs) don't know what my splits were as I forgot to hit the lap button on my watch at the end of the swim & bike legs, I'll have to wait for the official results to be sent out.
It was the first time my 3yr old twins had seen me race & it was pretty awesome to have them yelling out "Go Dad" each time I went past them.
I pulled up pretty good no real sore spots, I obviously didnt go hard enough on the day.
So now I'm going to pencil in another race a bit later on this summer & see if I can make any improvements.

Cheers
Brendan

Well done Brendan, we'll have to start calling you the Old Bar Flash!
Have the Kids started their own races around the backyard yet?

Matt.
