Are talking about the petrol (FSI) turbo?
That is the engine fitted to the Golf GTI. It's also does duty in some Passats and Jettas. Is that what you were asking, or have I misunderstood?

misunderstood. I have a turbocharger (which I am trying to sell) that came off one of the 1.8 turbo cars (dont know which one) a few years back, almost certainly predating the FSI.. What I want to know is if it is the identical same unit regardless of what car it came off. I have a question from a buyer, 'will it fit a 99 passat 1.8t'. Since postage alone to canada is $100 I dont want to provide misleading YES just because I 'think' it is.
