Feeling nervous, quit my steady stable job today, starting a new job in Moomba S.A. Working on the gas and oil plant there as a painter. 2 weeks on 2 weeks off , fly in fly out. Really excited but shitting myself at the same time. So I will now be a resident of both S.A. and Vic.

Not much drinking to be done over there, bar is open from from 5-9pm and for an hour in the morning for the night crew, but heavy drinking is really frowned apon. Work 12 hour shifts for 14 days straight plus overtime if you want then they pay 2 days travel time each stint. Hourly rate is almost a joke (good). Hope it works out, cause at the moment im going from real happy to scared to blubbering nervous wreck at the drop of a hat. Anyway I spose you have to have a crack sometimes.

Career changes can be pretty scary, but once you've been at it for a while you'll know if you've stuffed up or not 😂

Seriously tho, good luck with it! 😀

You'll have to let us know when you're back 🙂

Hey Josh, good luck with your new job, sounds like an adventure.
I just realised that in late december I saw this guy from high school at the pavillion, his name is warwick grace, works at lance dixons. I was telling him I thought I knew someone else who worked there, now I remember!!
Bit of a strange one, he told me "I'll smash you man!", holding up his fist, but he was joking. I don't understand, was it a Lance Dixons only joke or what?

Nah thats just Waz, hes a bit trippy, but is fully into the whole rat look vw thing so hes alright i guess. I will miss the guys from Lance Dixons but no job is forever.
Thanks to everyone for the supportive kind words. Now I get 6 months of the year to mess around with my VWs and floor painting, and of course my family. Cant be all bad I guess.

I'm feeling a bit the same with leaving everyone and everything in W.A to move to QLD next month, but i guess its the crazy things we do for love.

You'll be fine Josh once you get into the routine and lifestyle! A change is a good as holiday, and remember you get the same feeling in your stomach when your scared that you do when you're excited. Think of it as new beginning for 2007!

Best of luck (but hey, you wont need it)!

I was apprehensive about the new job I started 2 months ago... but it's a lot more fun than I thought, and they love me. My staff are all happy and everything gets done really quick, which is what it's all about

Best of luck to you, wish I could have half the year off... :P

Hertz - mate of mine's worked up at Moomba for at least the last 10 years that I've known him - he seems to do alright, although he gets pissed off with the rosters over the xmas/New Year period - however, his missus always has a list of stuff for him to do when he has his 2-weeks off, which pisses him off even more as he's got two XC 500 GT's that he's trying to restore and never has the time to spend on them
