What the heck is going on with VW edicate, or even kombi edicate for that matter.
I have now done two return trips to the goldie in the 7 days and out of about twenty kombis only 5 followed the rules and two of them were T3's like myself. And one was a T4 operator so that only leaves 2 Bays. Cheers to the metallic grey? T3 near the Tweed as today was dissapointing and one from lots is all it takes sometimes. I run a Metallic Blue T3.
So i ask the question whats the GO?
I am all for educating the new VW drivvers, but why should i when the old educated ones are non-obliging or basically non caring about heritage and what it means to be part of the VW family.

they all work for the Commonwealth Bank or so I was informed by the advertising message. Isn't that quite obviously false advertising?

yer its usually only the older cars dude, bays n splits,

its the same with old beetles n new beetles, new beetle drivers don't notice old beetles because they are a different sort of driver,

my mates got a 2006 rodeo ute n pulled up to the lights at another new rodeo, my mate gave him the thumbs up n the other guy looked at us as if we were on drugs haha

Yeah its not a T3 thing!

Get an older volkswagen and you will receive the appreciative wave, we get it all the time in our bay!

I wave at all splits, bays and T3's (I'm a bay driver) and I almost always get a wave from the splits and bays, and I more often than not get waves back from T3's too... the exception are Synchros... I dont't think many bay drivers even bother to wave at Synchro's anymore cos we are rarely ever acknowledged by them. 🙁

Hell... even I have started to get lazy when it comes to Synchros cos half the time it seems pointless to wave to them as they are mostly oblivious to the custom. 🙅

All the same tho, if any Kombi waves first (even a T4 and it does happen), I will always return the courtesy. 🙂 👍

HA! sounds like the olden days when I had a reno 12 got rsi waving and flashing the lights at every 12 that went past, 16's, 10's 8's no show, could never figure it out.

Yeh nah the older aircooled arent for me but i respect the VW culture and attitude, shit any one driving a VeeDubb gets my nod of respect for not being the "norm". And it aint " just a T3 thing" i get waves from any VW driver be it bugs, kombis, splits, and golfs and well almost all the VW family. Yeh i too wave at all makes and models, hhey sometimes it happens and other time wel, lets just, i would get more notice if i was pointing at them head on. Some drivers are robots.

I have been told of said Renault 12 wave by my grandfolk... they had one for 20 years... also mentioned the RSI hehe... however since they finally let go of old Musette back in 1994 I have only ever seen about 3 other Renault 12's anywhere...

I wonder where they all got too... wouldnt mind snaffling one for myself at some stage in the near future. Gotta love the 3-stud hubs and rims! 😎

Lately I have been barely getting any waves, or return waves!

My beetle paintwork has deteriated a lot in the past 12 months so there are lots of chips everywhere. As a result, I get snubbed!

I think people assume that if you paintwork looks poor, that means you are not caring/maintaining/restoring the car. If they only new how much money I spent on the car!
The paintjob is the last thing to I got to do (apart from some rust repairs) on the car.

I always give a curtosy wave regardless, and always return it.

But it is always nice when the dedicated enthusiests look past the cosmetic side of a car, and give a friendly wave.
Thats not rust, it's ah ... orange primer ... yep that's what it is ...

Had the same thing happen when I upgraded from the bay to the T3.
All the long lost rello's I found driving the bay don't wave to the newer ones.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

i know what you mean very frustrating when you wave and get no reply. i pass lots of vw's all day and never get a wave. mind you they all probably think why the hell is a big tour coach waving at them. So if you see a coach with croc express down the side and one with Australian day tours on it, waving at you then it is just a fellow vw driver behind the wheel wishing he was driving a vw

I get plenty of waves in Boris even though the paint is diabolical. I find that the aircooled set here in Adelaide are very friendly. Sometimes I forget that I am in my workmobile and people look at me weird when they get a wave from a VY crummydore.

Sometimes u get the urge to wave at other vw's and then u remember u are sitting in your aunts nissan buzz box. I recently passed a nice bay coming back from Sydney and gave him a toot upon pulling alongside him and gave the thumbs up and got the wave in return, but it was a damm nice bay, dark green 74 model i think somewhere near kempsey?

I too haven't had many waves lately, and I still usually see 4 or 5 Veedubs a day. 🙁

No offence but Kombi drivers are the worst for returning the wave too.

Whether it's a clean bug, bus or type 3 doesn't make a difference as far as I can tell. I wave at them all and rarely get one returned even though I have a shiny dub. 🥲

I agree completely! Bay kombi drivers are snobs :P😉

Every day i see 4 or 5 pre-70 aircooleds, and it's only the pre-super beetles that acknowledge me back!
