There's a few of us here. We have a chapter of Club VW as well.
I would like to see more VW's cruising around town.
We need to organise a Sat. night cruise sometime soon. Before the weather gets cold.

Dunno about dedicated dakkers but the ACT Street Machiners seem like a good bunch and I reckon Fitzy and the lads will make you feel welcome - after a few jokes at your/our expense

I lived in canberra on and off for more years than I can remember (nothing to do with lax dope laws but it helped then 🙂 ) It's a good city for VW lovers, friendly dubbers and some half decent techs and mechs! Put those VW's of yours in a shed with carpet underneath or at least get your heater cables and stuff working really well. For those in Canberra still that don't have the luxury of a garage, how much fun are those 5 to 7 am starts when your running late for work and you have the equivalent of the snowy's on your windows...panels rock! but then you can't see the public servants in their daewoos and hondas about to run into...I do love canberra, not bashing by any means...I hope your stay is a fruitful one. Stop into The Phoenix Pub in civic...good pub, tell 'em Mungo sent ya...no discounts but worth a pint. Enjoy... The VW fraternity should keep you sane 🙂

Yeah! I agree. I like Canberra. I lived in Canberra on and off for years. Got a degree, did a stints in the public service, on and off, hated it, was no good at it. I don't have the bureaucratic mindset.
I had the only buggy registered in the ACT. That was a series of hurdles to jump over. They didn't want it.
I was a founding member of the new ACT VW Club which met in the German Club in the 1990s. I hope that's still going.
I'd return there if I had a good reason to.

The ACT VW club went the way of the ACT Volkswagen Association that my father was in when I was a kid. We are now the Canberra Chapter of Club Vee Dub.

Sweet guys and thanks for the info. Can't wait to get there and get back into a real vw scene again. I've missed the shows and swap meets, can't wait.
