dont know if this is the right section but im after peoples opinion. Got a 1970 type 3 and am going the good old hoodride look. Now would it look good with eyelids on the headlights or not? ive got the roof rack and front sun visor and all that and its getting lowered tomorrow. im just unsure if it will enhance the look or not. what are your thoughts? cheers

No lids on anything I say. Just acceptable on a bug 'cos they sit up....but on a Type3 they slope to the ground, not following or enhancing any line on the car. Not meant to be really.

I like em myself. I don't have any on my rides yet but I have liked the way they look on most of what I have seen. In the end it comes down to personal opinion. If you are going to go the hoodride route then you don't need to justify anything. Do it cos *you* like it. Stick it to em....

They looked quite ugly in the 60s and weren't common on any VW. Nothing has changed in 2007! Leave them off as they are also a safety issue with the different authorities.

If they're new and you want an aged/hood look for them, soak them in vinegar and bleach and they will rust asap. That is cheating of course, saying that you could just leave them in the rain for a year or so👍

personally i loath them, but as 65no66 said they are just acceptable on a beetle. on a T3 they just look droopy (or half asleep) and make the car look silly IMHO. personaly i'd go meshes over eyelids any day.

still, it's your car so do whatever feels right.

go the cats eyes.
no one runs them anymore, so it'd be a bit more unique
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.

I don't care what other people say.. i like them on a Type 3!
I'm always getting comments on how cool they look.. kids love them too.. its the first thing most people notice about the car!

I've since angled them in slighty which makes her look a bit evil.. and looks really cool at night with the headlights on!

C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.

Thanks! I think its because its a late model.. and the eyelids suit the sharp shape of the late nose much more than the curvy early nose..
