Damn, I took this for a test drive, what a blast to drive even with just a slightly worked flat4 VDub engine...I never used to think much of this replicas but I am hooked! What do you guys think?

Read about one of these in the latest pommie mag and thought Why Not
No rust cheaper VW motor :thumb
I must check with that dude with the miaco brakes too!
Cheers Doc
reVOLKS at Fyansford Geelong
20th OCT 2007 STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS
A, the 356 reps are pretty kool mate. Drove one that was listed on ebay a couple of years ago. Even with a buggered motor its was like the closet thing to riding a motor bike on 4 wheels for me. Wish I had have gome a bit harder and won the auction.
Dean, it is exactly as you described it! It was so 'zippy' and agile! John, I don't think I can ever let the Ghia go,just don't have the time for restos at the moment.
At least that one looks like a Speedster. The version with the nasty flared guards just doesn't cut it.
Have both Al.

mmm, light, zippy, cheap and immune to rust VS heavy, exy, rusty and an asthmatic motor.
Not a hard choice i think, but I guess it's just me.
The other thing about the porsche replica is, you can mod it all you like and no one gets upset. Where as the moment you stray away from original on a low light, the value plummets and anal purists everywhere start raining poo on you.
Buy the porsche and take it racing...you know you want to. 😏
Lock the ghia away for when you are too old to drive fast any more. Resto it then.
I.
LOVE.
KITCARS.
..in case anyone was in any doubt 😵💫
A POSSE AD ESSE.
I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.
Check this site out -
Ricola Racing check out the Speedster replica with a Subaru turbo engine in it. He has since sold the car but I bet that thing was insane. (I'm sure somewhere on the site he quotes a 0-60 (mph) figure of 4.6 secs !!).
There's also a lot of useful info on the site for Porsche -> VW Parts interchange.
Back to the topic - I considered buying a speedster replica but the seem very expensive over here - it appears to be cheaper to buy a late model 356 coupe than a Speedster replica - why go for plastic when you could have the real thing -
I know what you mean but I think I'd rather the plastic than an ugly late model 356 B/C. In fact I almost bought a B fifteen years ago but decided on purchasing a Ghia coz it looked way better. I would love an aluminium Gmund coupe anyday though...my order of preference would be Gmund/PreA/Speedster(the limit!).

Mate, try going against Mr. Seinfeld....
Is that the Grundmann's (spelling?) collection? Lucky bastard...
Dude, your place is just as amazing you freak!
I was referring to the strap-ons.
Plastic is plastic, give me an original B or C anyday of the week.
hey aldo, what are they asking for the replica?

I'll make you eat your words by the time I'm finished with it Biyatch!
I thought I'd heard someone else say stuff like that about repro stuff?
Stick with what you got mate and finish it right, it will be worth it in the end.:thumb
You can buy a 356 replica any day but a lowlight?

Everything 36HP !
Change over king and link spindles
6-12volt semaphores
Find us on Facebook
If you drive this thing you'd understand Nath! Just bored with the VDubs...um, you can buy a lowlight anytime too mate...a Rometsch perhaps or a 54 RHD Barndoor Deluxe...no such thing as rare, just gotta pay to play. Just not prepared to pay over 100k for an anemic old original speedster LOL..I'd rather an Audi RS4!

Hey, have you thought about one of those Ferrari replicas based on a Celica?
Al, you just missed a RSK 718 replica body that was in Geelong that sold on ebay for $2718! Bargain I reckon and way better than the speedster look
Like me though, time to build it up is your challenge at the moment!
Cheers
