Its a long shot, i know, but I would love to know what happened to my fathers first car. I know theres no chance of figuring out where my grandfathers oval got to (i just dont know enough about it except that it was one of the very last ovals and lived its life down in warnambool) but my fathers bug i would love to locate. I am tryign to find out what the original rego is, but here is what i know:
69 bug
resprayed light (sea?) blue
mildly worked motor
rare fibreglass widened guards from Volkspower who imported them from overseas, these were not the usual type, they were so smooth you didnt initially notice they were widened, still had the stock lights
Pretty sure it was still on wide steelies
was owned by my father Dallas Mischkulnig in Warnambool until probably around 1980 when he sold it to his sister in Warnambool who kept it a couple of years and sold it on.
So as far as i know no-one in teh family has seen it in 24 years, the last we know it was still in Warnambool, but anyone who owns a bug that fits the description, if you could take a look through the old paperwork that'd ba awesome, it'd be great to know the old girls still floating around.

I bought a 57 oval from Warnambool about 15 or so years ago. It was at a wreckers (from memory) & i bought it sight unseen through an add in the trading post, it was brush painted white (original colour is light grey),pretty rough around the edges, no W engine lid, original 36hp engine & it had suffered a bit of a hit in the front. Cost me $500 & then I had it trucked up to Taree.
It has sat at the Old Mans place ever since & slowly deteriorated.
Ring any bells????

One day I hope to get around to do something with it.

Cheers
Brendan

colour sounds right i think, dont know much more about that one, but next time your up there if you could take a look for any paperwork or take a look at the last rego stiker and see what its rego number was that'd be sweet, doubt anyone would remember what the rego was, btu if they heard the right one they'd certainly know.

Details fom my Oval.

Last rego expired Jan 1989, registration number CRA 491, its got redish brown vinyl interior trim with white piping, has a white push button on the right hand side of the dash which I have never bothered to trace, but probably used for horn or dimmer.
Has holes in rear guards where blinkers may have been fitted at some stage of its life.
Bumpers with short over riders.

Thats all I can give you that might distinguish this car from any other oval of the same era.

Cheers

thanks man, i checked and i know the grey colour is definitely right, Im pretty sure it was sold in the early 80s, so the white paint could well have come afterwards, next time i hear form my grandfather i will see if the numberplates ring a bell.
cheers
