my remarks were not offensive, just honest about the amount of rust and bondo. i also put some links showing other cars that were ALOT cheaper and in far better condition.
was i WRONG???

If you have nothing posetive to say about a car that is for sale then you have no need to reply to the post.If you had your own "for sale" post and someone bagged it then you would expect their post to be removed,so you could assume yours would be removed for the same reason. So yes,you were wrong. The same would happen here..

Yes, i agree with what mick is saying completely.
And it has happened here....
Someone last week bagged a car that had been sold, with the comments in pretty poor taste. The comments were deleted and the post closed.
Tough Jon.. I don't think you were wrong at all.. I think you had a moral right to inform people about something you knew.. If you knew the car and it's condition and you believed the seller was not representing the car properly, then its tough to sit quietly and do nothing..
However this type of forum is not a consumer protection advocacy. It needs to protect against the greater of two evils being litigation..
Pity the poor buyer though.. Maybe use private email or U2U to warn interested parties or tell the seller to represent the car properly.. Getting shafted on a car purchase has probably happened to many of us.. It's not a nice feeling to watch hard earned money go into the pockets of someone that doesn't deserve it..
Stick to what you believe is right mate.. It doesn't matter what others think
Hey Jon. If you were driving past a caryard and saw the same car in the caryard with people looking at it with intent to purchase, would you pull over, find a park, run up to them to say the same stuff you said on the other forum?
🤘 (devils hat on)
If you saw a forum member here showing keen interest in an advertised vehicle that everyone knew was a dog.
Noob member gets all keen and opening wallet to pay top dollar for a well marketed lemon.
Would you let them go and get ripped off?
Whilst I dont think every post should be open slather a dreamer neend telling.....

Agreed.. Uninformed opinion is often just mischief making.. but ask yourself this..
If you knew a car to be a dog and the owner was not representing it properly AND your girlfriend with little mechanical knowledge but big dreams was going to buy it, would you do nothing?

It is one thing to have seen the car and "if you knew the car" to offer comments, but it is another to have never seen the car and offer an opinion that isn't asked for.
One way to approach this is if you had information pertaining to the particular condition of a car, maybe you u2u the interested party instead of putting it out there for everyone to see? Interesting topic - keep it going.
Fair enough...
The car was advertised with pics that showed it for what it was, more pics of every problem that you can imagine. The seller was hiding nothing, all the pics revealed this.
Jon didnt think the price was fair, which in my mind isnt anyones business, the seller can ask what ever he wants...
The ad was fair, the condition of the product was there for all to see, the price, thats up to the seller and buyer...not any oif jon or anyone elses business...
So yes, you were wrong and offensive, id be pissed off if you started posting links to other similar cars forsale and bagged out what i was selling...and also if you bagged out the mods on the forum for removing your negative posts...
Thats the thing, i was taught at a very young age, that if you dont like something, then dont buy it...
Its not unfair or dodgy to ask any amount of money for something, thats up to the seller...
And thats why jons posts were edited, if the seller was being dodgy and dishonest, then i would have intervened...
I think you are wrong, you are effectivly hindering someone elses sale!
Who are you to Judge!! what qualifies you to comment? Etc...
How would you like it if someone you dont know slaggs off the car you are selling thus preventing anyone else wanting it!!
(i have no idea what ad this relates to just my 2c)

OK, fair enough.. Jon.. Don't interfere in what is obviously NOT your business..
I feel personally that if you feel so strongly about what someone is selling and feel they are hiding "the truth" about its worthyness and true condition then you have every right to kindly warn others about its real condtion through a private medium (u2u, PM's).
In this case, the seller was open and honest about what they were selling. Photos' of every imperfection and rust was posted as not to hide anything or betray people of what they would be getting. So in turn, there was no need for your opinion as it was clearly evident of the cars condition. Sure, you may not have agreed with the price, but ultimately that is up to the seller what they wish to get for it. Sometimes it may only be a "wish" on their behalf, but hey, i guess you can only try hey? I'm sure if we all had it our way everything we wanted would be free!

Jon, on DSK we have it in the rules above the for sales, don't post if you are not interested in buying, usually we don't remove posts that are on selling threads.. the seller also requested for them to be removed.. fair enough. No hard feelings.. lets all move on.
Cheers, Timmy
I've met Jon, and he has a very high opinion of himself, so he thinks he was hard done by.
I can't work out why he brought his gripe over here though. I could think of another place he would have got a much more sympathetic hearing.
you posts were deleted probably because no one needs to hear what you think the right price is. Stop having a suc and get over it. Sure no one in here cares either. Tell the seller by PM if you want, theres no need to offer your expert valuation, most people have been around long enough to figure it out for themselves. Thats how the other forum does it, and will continue to do it. If you can't be positive, take it elsewhere. Theres one more forum left you can go have a suc in btw.

I would assume that an answer to the question has been given. I'm closing this thread as it will only go downhill from here.If you have a problem with it being closed U2U me.
