Hey I have some lights in my 60 bug and the lenses are sealed units. I have previously had early lights that had removable H4 style bulbs. So my questions are 1) can I replace the sealed beam with the type with the removable bulb? 2) what type of lens is suitable (bonus question, what is the diameter of the lens) 3) what are some Phillips sealed beams worth/anyone want to swap?

Cheers Stephen

Hi

They are usually 7 inch. You can buy lots of different ones. I bought some Hella H4 ones and fitted Narva +50 bulbs, brilliant. Are your light the Rossi style with park lenses at the base or the type with a clear lenses covering.

Hi Stephen,

Do you have any details on the HID kit?

I just got a no-name Chinese brand from the states, its a H4 with high and low beam so I believe it should be legal. The bulbs themselves fit right in a H4 socket and the wiring is very simple. This set has an integrated ballast and igniter so there is only one box. The brand is JSM or similar, they are very bright 🙂

stephen - was speaking to my auto elec buddies as i too was interested in this conversion - they seemed to think that the conversion is illegal unless the lights are self levelling.

if you could find a new holden senator that has been written off then you could potentially grab the whole kit with sensors and motors etc etc and try.
