was following Danielle home from work the other night, and noticed she didnt have any brake lights.

so I checked it out, slid underneath, and both the switches are plugged on properly, and when we checked them, if the pedal is depressed hard straight away, they work fine, but if the pedal is only pushed gently (normal braking) the lights dont turn on, even when you increase the pedal pressure.

is this a common problem, the brake lights not working? the brakes are all adjusted and work fine, it seems to me like the switch contacts are worn and carboned up or something, is there an easy fix for this, or will changing the switches fix it, if so, where do we get new switches?

I want to fix this up so Clarabelle doesnt end up with a landcruiser bullbar embedded in her tailgate.. also dont want Danielle to hurt her neck.

thanks for any help or advice.

Replace the switches and flush through the master cylinder or replace the whole master cylinder. When I first regoed my manx it went through a roadworthy and machinery inspection with the lights only working under heavy pedal pressure, It took awhile to work out that fact. I replaced the switches and flushed a lot of gunk out of the master cylinder.

"Do I wish to send them to you again, nope, no interest can't be bothered really, to much hassle for little or no return."

hmm, maybe we look at finding some new switches and then flush the system.

dont really want to replace a perfectly good master cylinder for no reason.

Same problem in my fastback for ages. Yes 99% will be switches. Changed my switch and it works fine now. I also wondered for ages why people were getting so close to my ass and thought it wont be long before I get hit.

I love 242HP sleepers. 🤪

How many sets of lights does it take a $229k Carrera S to learn? 😂 UPDATE: Cayman S, M3, B4 now added to the list.

thanks again for the extra vote 🙂

wouldnt think I'd have problems getting parts being a mechanic, but me working all day and the boss forgetting to ring up about switches means I still havent sourced ay.

ahh crap, Danielles still logged in.

i fitted a micro switch on the pedal and forgot about the switches one day i will fix but now just tap the pedal and lights ablase i also fitted a third light and used a blinker relay in the power line so if i keep my foot on the break it starts to flash really gets attention
