Hi

If you want it to look like a your bug, find a bug body about your model with a stuffed front. Then cut it up so that you only have a body from the B pillar back, then it all depends on your skill level working with metal. To make it lighter discard the pan and put a box trailer like frame under it.

my dad's best mate owns a trailer making business, and iv been considering for a while finding a crashed beetle and turning it into a trailer, with help from him for all the structural road legal stuff.

and use the engine bay as a spare wheel well 😎

I think that you might find it a bit more useful as a trailer if you cut the rear off near the rear window and fitted the body on a trailer chassis with the front near the tow ball and the spare in there. That would also give you separate small lockable space. Alternatively put a whole body on with rear door as a hatch back hinged at the top of the rear window.

I've seen it done with Mini Minor van bodies and it looks good, so a Beetle one would be very cool.

thanks have very little space in the car to go on holidays once you fit a child and a dog in the back. My husband had to sell his kombi and we didn't realise how much we would miss having the extra room.
