Hi All,
A preview of issue#17 can now be viewed at
www.vwma.net.au (thank you to Rawdyn for the new look website). This issue goes on sale February 1st (earlier for subscribers).
The classifieds have also been updated.
A revised printable VW Portland registration form can be found in the registration link for the Portland Drag Racing.
And links page is now also a part of the website.
Cheers
Craig
The Goggomobil Dart VW powered drag car featured in this issue (page 28), recently went on to the dyno.
Mike Adi, the owner of the Dart, was proud to announce 188hp at the wheels from the Supercharged stock 1600cc with mild cam, re-worked heads and mechanical fuel injection. The 188 was achieved on the last run by relieving fuel pressure which was causing a too rich mixture!
Although the Dart won't be ready for Portland, a run at Warwick might be on the cards.
Howdy Craig!
Looking forward to receiving my issue via my second subscription!
Looks set to be another top read!
Cheers Will
Very cool numbers from a 1600. Does the article have the full specs on the set up?
Thanks for the update Craig.
There is a basic tech box with the engine pic, but as the car was still being restored (it was last raced in the 60s), there was still much work to do. I'm hoping Mike will have it all sorted this year so I can follow through on the completed car.

Hey Craig, do you have every back issue available? I've got about 8 mags all up. Whats the best way to order them.
Thanks guys. Glad you enjoyed.
In the back of the latest issue there is an order form for back issues.
All I have left are 1, 3, 9, 13, 14, 15 and 16. On the endangered list are 1, 3 and 13.
The others may be able to be found at swap meets or at some of the larger VW shops.
Hi Craig,
Thank you for featuring my Dub in your mag, looks great!! won't be long before it gets a coat of paint now🙂
Cheers
Good day Dino-you won't believe this-I have read the article in the Mag on your car a dozen times and perved on every pic-but the penny never dropped that it was yours.Having another look and I see your name written in almost every paragraph-must have been in another world while reading. Now I can see why it's taking some time-the whole thing is just awesome. You have done some serious fabrication to it so far.Keep up the excellent work and keep us posted.
Hi Gary,
Hehehe Thanks mate, certainly has taken some time. Just making sure that I build it right from the start, and not take short cuts with the execution of each mod.
So much of the Dub is hand made in my garage.
How's the oval coming along? have you ironed out all of the bugs now?
Cheers
Yes almost there-one more visit next week to get some work done with the Haltech(having some issues with ignition timing when trying to start it)but everything else is OK.I have only done about 90 miles in it so far and it's unreal to drive. The worst thing about it is the seriously loud induction noise.I have filled the whole arse end with good sound insulation ,so I will try and build a single centre mount air filter set up to quieten it down a bit.
Only a couple of minor things then. I'm still a bit off that, hehehe.
Been driving my Dub in my head for soooo long now, that I'm just waiting on the day that I'll be able to start my Dub and go cruzin.
For your filter arrangement, you need something like this
Cheers
That's what I need for sure.
Flintstones,
Just read the artiicle on your car, cool ride for sure. You should be so proud of what you have created. I too have been driving my car in my head and I know exactly what your feeling. Can't wait to see the finished result. Nice work.

C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.
T54, thanks man.
Should have it finished some time this year. Your oval is coming along great as well.
I don't want to hijack Craig's post so I'll start a new thread in the members forum.
Cheers
