Visiting Darwin for a few days early next month, any tips for ways to amuse myself?

I'll be looking for some dubbers to have a beer with as i am going to be there from late april till early june.
some people are like slinky's
they have no useful purpose
but they are fun to watch
when you push them down the stairs

My partner and i visited Darwin last year. We found a place called Howard Springs which was beautiful, and has some of the biggest Barra's and Turtles swimming around. We can across a little restaurant not far from where we were staying called the Santa Fe. Awesome Food! Be sure to catch up with the Darwin Dubbers while you are there...

theres not much open at this time of year, its the wet season!! take an umberella with you!
the humidity is about 99% then it rains EVERY day!! make sure your car is water proofed, my syncro wasn't bad but there were days the old girl struggled!
theres a pub call the lounge lizard or lazy lizard or similar, the meals are great and the cool fans are greater!!
theres one vw garage and the german fella is a gem, don't think you'll walk in buy and walk out, expect to hear his life story!
i saw a couple of bugs n stuff zooming about, they all looked like they were on a mission!
stay out of any large puddles, like vw54 says, there are crocs!!

Howard springs is feral, I've lived in Darwin twice for 5 years in total. Your better off going to berry springs, much cleaner and you can actually swim. Howard springs has warning signs regarding the water etc.

Good pub scene also. You might even want to drop Reub_revhead a line, he's got some pretty cool toys.

Drink lots of water and enjoy the rain.

hey man yeah the sailin club is an awesome place to down some coldies at sunset as it blazes its way across the water and over the horizon... all the pubs are a good visit.. most have al fresco section under a fan so you can catch a breeze and watch the summer dressed shielas float on past... cos its wet season you cant swim in the lush berry springs or litchfield park waterfalls.. crocs get flushed into em. their is a croc park, crocadylus or something or rather that is ok for a quick visit.. has bruce the croc from the croc dundee movie livin there. big bastard. otherwise get out on a fishin charter.. though im not sure when its barra time. go for a swim in the ocean if you wanna feel alive.. you wont enjoy it but youll feel pumped or shit scared haha.. also, mindel markets are a great visit on sat nights and wed/thu (??) nights however... i have an inkling cos of monsoon they may be off... darwin is an awesome place to kick back and get social... i worked out on a station for a while up that way.. loved it all.
everything dies baby, thats a fact..
maybe everything that dies one day comes back..
put your make up on and your hair up pretty..
and meet me tonight in Atlantic city..

Not a bad place. For the Pub scene Mitchell Street has the most clubs and pubs. Sailing Club is pretty good, but a little out of town (depending where you are staying).

Re VWJON comments: Lizard Lounge is where he is thinking of. Gunter is now closed (or very close to it). There is another VW shop here MBN Autos near the RAAF base.

Re Air Fooled Comments: Correct because it is the wet, not many places to swim. Crocadylus Park not bad, Adelaide River Jumping Crocs is pretty good, but unless you have wheels or a tour to far out. And yep the Mindel Markets are closed until about March.

Haven't had much rain as yet, however they are forecasting Feb to be wet (surprise, surprise)

Other than that there are a fair few people with dubs, but no clubs that I know of.......

Cheers
