I had a nasty run-in with an 8' Eastern Brown 16 years ago - up behind Taree. It came within inches of getting me - wearing shorts and thongs (yeah, yeah - flip flop thongs) - having climbed up on to the ledge it was on. It came at me and I went arse over tit on my wet thongs. Five grands worth of camera gear went flying and I scrambled backwards along the ground while it came straight at me - its head up about 18" and flattened out pretty much like a Cobra, but not as wide. It ended up going down over the bank I'd just climbed up and into the swamp. I read about two deaths from Eastern Browns within a month of that.
As far as I'm concerned, any brown snake is better off dead.
The worst thing about it being a juvenile is that there will be others..........lots of others out to get revenge🥷🤘👍

its funny normally this time of year i strike alot of browns
but ive only seen 2 this year, but what i have seen alot of is red belly blacks found one in the shed last week which is very unusual
ill never kill a black there shy timid things and wont bother anyone as long as they dont catch me by surprise
but browns bloody hell theyre agro shits of things and will go anything regardless of size
dad struck one out mowing on the farm he works at the other day but looking at the snake book this arvo he crapped himself cos he realised it was actually a taipan not an eastern brown

Sure right there. Certainly looks longer than 75 mm
🤪
7 young browns in daughter's back yard at East Tamworth in the last 2 weeks. "Mother Dear" or maybe father was caught in neighbours laundry! Now 8 snakes less in Tamworth!

Just remember, all Australian snakes are protected by law, and should certainly never be randomly set upon with any large, long-handled bashing/mashing/impaling/beheading/burning implement (or firearm from a safe distance).
That's right, official wildlife protection officer man who may be reading this, no-one here would ever INTENTIONALLY harm one of these aggressive, lethal, sneaky little bastards.
😉 😉
As a 'rule of thumb' for adult snakes: If its head is wider than its body and triangular in shape, it's probably not venomous. If its head is as wide or narrower than its body, with a more blunted, bullet profile, it is.
BTW, definitely juvenile Eastern Brown. Had a 2 metre one try to get into the house a week ago here in the lovely Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank. Got through a hole in the flyscreen door and became trapped in between it and the sliding glass door. I was at work, the missus (6 months pregnant), her mother and our 2 and a half year old girl Charli were in the room less than 1 metre from it. She called me, I called a mate.
May he rest in peace, wherever he is.
A POSSE AD ESSE.
I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.
browns like red belly blacks but last few years browns like cane toads as well, hence
the browns are being poisoned by eating canes & not red belly's so more red belly's
& less browns= so if you see cane toads kill the the rotten pest.
cane toads, lantarna, rabbit, carp, wild pig, wild buffalo, fox & etc etc etc our silly ancestors
introduced to this country is doing heaps of damage to the land & wildlife.

I was standing in my backyard the other day saying the very same thing. Used to have a slug gun as a kid and it would be handy now, I have heaps of these nasty little bastards in my yard. Sick of the buggers! Was thinking of poisoning them, but the natives would get to the food too....just want to find some way to get rid of some of them at least!
Time is a great healer. Unless it's a rash, then you're better off with ointment.
No Indian Mynahs or Turtledoves in my backyard. More than a thousand of em went to feed the local goannas before they finally got the message. Only native birds allowed here. We've even had a brush turkey take up residence recently.
Never seen a brown around here, but I did have a 4' black snake in the aviary recently and have seen a few carpet pythons.
As for all Oz snakes being protected, I had an accident with one just 50 metres from the boat a couple of years back. We were having lunch on the boat and saw a brown swimming towards the houses (where there are toddlers) - when we went over for a look, he got in the way of an oar, unfortunately - and wasn't seen again. I wonder where he went?
Yes
Brown snakes make it hard to identify what snake has actually bitten people...
as it can look like tiger snake,,,
although I've never seen a snake with bands like that one.
except banded sea snakes..
If You can keep slashing them [accidently of course]
plus a few cane toads too..... lol..
and the worse part is... where are His brothers and sisters and mummy and daddy???
Keep slashing....

i tossed it on the fire pile today cos it was starting to stink but yea i still have no idea what kind it was
looking thro the snake book the gwardar or western brown was close
but the heads were very different (before i ran it over)
and theyre not from anywhere around here
i dont mind snakes normally, i even had a pet carpet python when i was a kid but i do worry about bites tho as i work on 125 acres of very hilly farm 30kms out of town
and its only me there so if im ever bitten im probably screwed but luckily my nextG phone has full coverage out there
its some varient in the adder family, heads wrong shape for a brown snake.
Loves a lolcat
Hi Joel
Shame you burnt it, would have made a nice belt or hat band.
Steve
even with me being a pyro with the diesel the firepiles are way to wet to burn
ive emailed one of david attenboroughs mates in WA whos a snake nut so hoping he can tell me what breed it is
