So, about 1.5 years ago I bought 2 beetles, signed up here and began posting about the work I was doing on them.
Well I worked long and hard, I replaced a heater channel, all brake lines and brake cylinders, repaired the front end and stripped the thing to bare metal.
Problem was, that I did so much that I got burnt out. I couldnt bare to touch it again, and the thought of going back to work on it got worse the longer I spent away.
Well, now I _think_ that I am ready to get back to it. It has been mostly in a shed, but has re-aquired some rust.
Anyone able to give me some words of encouragement?
All I suggest is start putting up more pics in the members ride section - the comments people make can often keep you motivated.....also a sense of obligation to keep the pics (and progress coming) otherwise people on here get a bit antsy!!
its hard to stay motivated when all you seem to do it spend money...especially when you feel like its getting u no where. I took 6 months on one of mine...
But if u post pics, other can see what ur doing and encourage u and make suggestions to help u along your way. I know someone who took 6 years to mkae his dream come true. He was never happier than when it became a reality and he drove the car on the road for the first time. the smile was miles long.
But go back to the car, sit, get a feel for it again, and just remember, some ppl have taken years to make their dreams a reality. But its worth it in the end. trust me. it really really is worth it.
Cheers

dubless. 🥲 🥷 And who the helled parked the Mitsubishi "Prancer" under my house??? 🥷
... I've been tapping away at my Country Buggy for a decade; have built/restored and bought another few cars in the meantime. You just gotta be 'in the mood'!
It hard to keep going when you have a long task ahead.
Just going to VW show or get together gets me going.
I also have days when I just cant stand to get out and do anything on the car, these days I try to at least tidy away tools etc or even do things on the car that are frivolous or good fun or just get on here and talk about VWs.
Hopefully in the end you will end up with a nice ride to show for all of this work.
Find a pic of a bug you like and put it up in the shed and as a screen saver. Something that you'd like your car to look like.
Also, get yourself a list of things to do and tick them off as you complete them. You can get overwhelmed sometimes with things that need doing that you get stuck in a rut...a list def keeps you ahead of the game.
Visit aussieveedubbers daily as all these cats talking/doing VW's is very inspiring.

Jesse, Your heart has to be in it all the way, try and find why you want (or don't want) to finish it,
if your heart is in it then you will have done it for the right reasons and really enjoy it when it's done.
Sit back with a beer, pull out old VW magazines, get very jealous. Then look at all the shiny things you could buy, then charge back in! Always works for me but the wife always steps in to stop me buying😠 BTW whereabouts are you as if you're near Noosa I could give you a run in the cab or the buggy👍
Thanks for the encouragement guys. I won't be able to start for 2 weeks, but I promise that I will do something
Here is my original post from the members area. I've just edited to re-add the pics that went missing
mate, baby steps. little goals, get em done right and move on to the next thing. the trick is, have a list before you go into the shed. aim to get one thing on the list done and then walk away satisfied it's done properly. just take your time. a mate who can help is good too.
