My baja was just doing the same thing... It felt as though it was running out of fuel. We thought it was a carb problem. I run a 1916 with twin 40 idf webers and they have given me alot of trouble, so i just assumed it was a fuel problem. But it turned out to be the condenser. Runs a treat now. Try that, it cant hurt. Only a cheap part, and easy to fit.

This saves me from starting my own topic, that is exactly what happened to me at Christmas then again last Sunday, went like a train for miles then suddenly feels like it's outa fuel, pull over get it going again and after 100 - 300 meters its the same thing, so 1916 (alright if I call you by your first name?) you suggest the condenser? well I'll give it a go, trouble is that next time I take it out it's likely to do the same thing and catch me miles from home, still, worth a try.

Mine did exactly that, then it eventually went completely! and would not run properly at all. It could be something else but this worked for me...

I had a 64 Beetle that had the same symtoms. Run for a while fine then stop. Wait a bit and it would fire up and go a bit then stop. Replaced , points, condenser, coil , then fuel pump, didn fix it. Turned out to be the short lenght of fuel line from the tank to the line in the pan was soft. Fuel pump was sucking this bit of line flat and cutting off the flow. When the engine stopped the vacuum was broken and the line opened up again allowing fuel to flow till it suck flat again. Replaced this bit of fuel line and all was good. Before you go buying the exy bits check your fuel lines first. replace all if in doubt. Good luck👍
