Hey I have an 091 i'm fitting to m 60 beetle , I have 944 stub axles (type 2 100mm) and I have new 100mm cv joints *4. I want to get sway away axles and I'd like to know what length am I chasing with this setup?

Cheers Stephen

Sway a Way supply a 15 5/8" (397 mm) axle for this application. I cut down my standard axles to 404.5 when I put a 002 into my Manx (standard Stub Axles).

I don't know where Brad got 485 mm from, might be a mistake.

Brad must have been on some good stuff.. I ment to type 385 not 485mm

The stock type 1 pan with type 2 transmission is 396mm with a t1 CV on the outer. BUT if you are running Sway-A-Way axles then they have more splin length and with T2 Outer CV's you usually use porsche or CB stub axles which have a deeper dish and thus allow to keep the same axle length.

If you are using T1 stub with modified flanges then the stock 396mm axloe will fowl on the dish. Thus I usually take 10mm off them and re-machine the circlip goove.

That's good to know Brad, I have some 944/Thing stubs which I haven't fitted yet. I was thinking of going for SAW or CIP1 axles. Has anyone had any experience with the CIP1 axles?
