I've lowered my bay p-van using drop plates on the rear.
Now I have mega negative camber. As its irs, I didn't think this would be an issue as the rear bearing carrier should swing an arc, unlike a swing axle setup.
Have I missed something or am I going to be up for rear tyres every 200klms?

your tyres will wear like any car with negative camber, have a look at a lowered commodore

You bearing will also wear quicker as they force aplied to them is not as it was designed to be and the bearings will have more side load on them.

This is the first time I've used dropplates to lower a vw. Any other time its been pull the springpaltes off & turn a spline or two. Never had this much negative camber before - type 3, bugs etc.
Seen other lowered bays and they look ok.
On the flip side, i've seen baja bays & they dont have positive camber. I'm talking IRS not Swingaxle.
When my bay was standard height, the camber was close to neutral.

Not fitted drop plates before, but I reckon that's where the problem is. Camber [and toe] can be affected at the springplate to diagonal arm connection.

I eliminated my camber on my lowered bay and it was the best thing I ever done. Made the handling awesome. I did it by using shims and placing them between the spring plate and the hub on the 4 bolts that lock it all together. Obviously more on the top than the bottom to stand the wheel upright. a painfull and slow job but well worth the effort. you also need to find a tyre shop who will allow you to spend about 1.5 hrs to play around with it till you get it right.

not real cheap but definately worht it in the long run(tyres love it!!)
