according to my info a H series motor is a 1500 (from a 67-69) and should be a late 1968 build
What my garage isn't messy........Well chaos is a form of order isn't it?

Yep H series is from 1500.
Thats not rust, it's ah ... orange primer ... yep that's what it is ...

Yes

all H prefixes were 1500 engines

the same engine was used in type 3s 1500
plus 1500 beetles..

well it started life as one anyway

most of them these days that have been rebuilt have 1600 cylinders in them
they bolt straight in, are cheaper than 1500s and u get a bigger capacity so its the natural choice for most

well the case is a 1500 but what it is now is anyone guess could have been updated to anything 13, 16 or even bigger

It will have small oil oil galliers and single relief oil pressure not much good as a base for a big engine oe hottie

So what is it you would like to do hot up or keep as a stocker ???

hi thanks for the help, i live in adelaide and yeah i was wondering becouse i herd you could change the heads to twin port 1600 ones and i was just going to do that after i start it and see what it runs like.
