**Just noticed the feul injection talk below** but any more info will be good.
Anyone got advice on the stock fuel injection for type 3's. Is it any better then twin stock carbi's (power, fuel economy). Just saw a injection set on ebay. How much do these usally go for? Also how will injection go on a mild 1835cc.
I guess what im after more then extra power is smoothness and fuel economy? will this be a good move.
What advice on electronic ignition. what benefits and what type. I have read all the benefits claimed by the seller but is there much difference. I have a good 009 already, what conversion would you reco🥷mend
thanks
If you plan on using the stock type 3 FI, you will need an FI distributor with the trigger points, a 009 will not work. Stock injection can be used on a 1776 by turning up the fuel pressure, not sure how it would go with an 1835 though.
Supposedly the stock FI system will give better fuel economy and smoothness than carbs.
A couple of other things to keep in mind:
if the car was not originally FI you will need to install a return fuel line
you will need an FI fuel tank or will need to install a return fitting into the tank
The price is pretty good. You don't often see an almost complete set up for sale. There is no "brain" or ECU shown in the photos so you would also need one of these. ECU's come up reasonably often but you need to get the right one for the rest of the gear.
It can be done and it's not really difficult but you need to do some research. It's not as easy as buy the system and drop it in.
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.
Yeah right. was hoping to just bolt in and drive. mmmm
yea there was a kit on ebay, i bidded to friggen $200 and the other bidder was still going....
so i pulled out.. haha
doesn't come with ecu.
But something strange happened today, got a message telling me the sale was pulled out, something with the seller not following proper conduct or sumfin :S

I couldnt see a distributor or ECU with the setup on ebay, which are the most expensive FI parts apart from the stock fuel pump. I have a stock FI on my 73 Fasty and it is smooooth, especially with the auto and has been my daily driver for 18 months - no probs.
Yeah I was pretty keen on the FI on ebay but didnt have the cash. Makes me think though, If it is going to cost abit, mite as well just pop a subaru with fuel injection in ( but that a whole nather journey).
🥲
in the US, there is a porsche 914 1.7ltr efi kit, will fit vw type 4 motors from buses at well...
COMES WITH EVERYTHING, INCLUDING ECU COMPUTER AND DISTRIBUTER. HOWEVER, NO FUEL PUMP!!!
its got one day and a bit left on it, bid is at $20, i bidded on it, and don't want it any more...
feel free to outbid for me :P
my max was $100
Any aftermarket fuel pump u rekon should be able to be fitted with it, as long as it supplies the right fuel pressure.
