PM sent Matt. Renault out of my old truck is still in it at the mo, but to be available soon, but is the 4 speed. It at least is a bolt in fit, sent you the 5 speed ratios, have the 4 speed if you r interested.
Bond, it is 4.4 Leyland I believe.

hee hee,,, nah Matt it`s got the lexus/Saorer 4litre injected v8 in it,,, my old splitty had the Leyland 4.4
I`ve just got off the phone with quite a few people chit chatting about all sorts of different avenues,,, i suspect that i will need "Something" for now but whatever that "something" is will need to at least be strong enough to last more than 3 months , just to give me time to sort a 4x4 box or a renault box or maybe a $28,000 complete Albins 6speed or some motha box that will take the twin turbo power that`s going onto it soon.
So it looks like a complete Albins internals into the 2L box i already have for now,,, then play with something much bigger & stronger & have it ready for 3 to 4 months time when the Albins box shits itself :-)
I have people telling me about the Porsche 4x4 box being able to handle over 800 Hp etc ,,, but the box physically looks much longer & i can`t see me actually fitting it in without major surgery in many depts,,, The syncro boxes are hard to get, costly & also physically don`t fit without dramas & are no-where near strong enough anyways,,, soooo it maybe just be a case of finding a 5speed renault box, & mucking with ratios to suit & then just fitting an air locker or slippery diff
Thanks to all the PMs people,,, very much appreciate the help,,, Matty when`s your renault manual going to be avaliable & you say it bolts in???,,, well that sounds good for starters, but what`s with the auto-magic??? can we sort a bullet proof auto in mine too????? At least that way the girlfriend can drive me home when i`m pissed at partys :-)
Hi bloke i ran a 4.4 in my 76 campervan that I used to tow my race car all over Australia, I initially built it with the standard box and hollinger internals that cost me $2800, 13 years ago, that box only lasted a couple of years breaking first the diff and then 2nd gear, I then bought a G50 porsche box with an external oil cooler for $3300 from Swan Porsche Parts and it has done 200,000 kms since with no problems, easy to install just had to manufacture a new front gbox mount and modify the shifting rod, cheers Greg

sold my 76 camper after 21 years years ago and now all the prices have gone up, moving and re building houses has slowed down VW love, Greg Martin
Thanks Greg, good to hear,,, i`m onto a few different boxes at the moment & still not sure which way to go... as i`ve said, i would dearly like to play with setting it up as a 4x4 & yeah obviously it`s going to be costly & time consuming & probably knuckle & ball busting to do, but i`m keen, i`ve always been keen to do exactly that actually,,, but if it comes to the crunch then a porsche or renault with an air locker diff might be the end result.
can you PM me some details or maybe your ph number so we can chat about how you did the porsche box conversion? maybe some pics?
