Just a quick one, how hard would it be to get a standard VW and put a Baja kit on it?

and

How hard will Rego be?

If ur willing to have the guts to choppin the bug body with an angle grinder (and not look back!), then u will have no troubles cuttin the body to fit the baja kit.

easy to rego 2.

I haven't done it to mine yet, however this isn't word of mouth, this is what i was told direct from my mechanic who will be issuing my compliance blue plate (not engineering plate) for my baja. [Vic Terry automotive, Burleigh]

the baja kit doesn't involve cuttin the chassis, just the body, and therefore its a piece of piss. Just maintain the obvious necessities like keeping the tyres in the fenders, mud flaps on the rear etc. if i bug eyed kit, there are limits to how close the headlights can be. Obviously maintain some form of appropriate indicators and tail lights.

Take note of that, and your fine. 👍

bug eyed bajas llike chris's above arent legal to blue slip in NSW cos the headlights arent far enough apart
if its already registered pink slips are fine tho
the other thing to bare in mind is baja kits are for standard bugs not superbugs

My kit is legal in QLD, cause its not like Poddies bug eyed kit, mines actually separated by more than 85 cm (centre to centre of light), if u look it flanges out into the fenders.

NSW regulations seem to always come across as more harsh.

Don't ask me what type of kit it is or where it came from... all i know is i got it from a big fella in springwoodish way...

I had mine passed no problems at all in NSW.
Had the same kit as chris's. And as he states in his comment above. His meet the required gap from centre to centre with the lights

yup.
Car had been out of rego for 5 or so years, 71 beetle.
thought i would have to get an engineers. but nope. just started writting out the slip. I asked if the front was legal and he game me a hmmmmm. looks wide enough. got out his tape and measured. said all was good.
I still modified a set of wide eye guards and mounted them up afterwoods though.
