I've finally tracked down some of my dads old photos from when he was in Germany shortly after the war. He was with the British Control Commision that was running the British sector which incorporated Wolfsburg and the British were still the only people allowed to use VWs. In one of these pics is his driver, a german guy by the name of Willie Kilmeyer (?), he's the bloke in the fancy lederhosen. He's also the bloke on the Zundapp motorbike that my dad and his mates bought for him. I hope you like them.
Another
.
The last one for now until I can get the other albums from my dad. This last one my dad said it was outside of Goerings' HQs.
Awesome pics. Thanks for sharing them.
Great pics. Love the ol motorbike & sidecar.👍
My Grandfather served in New Guinea so he had to put up with Jungles, Japs & Ford Blitzes. He had to suffice with a 1965 Notchback some time after the war when his old FC Holden rusted away in the 70's.
Amazing how some car tastes just get passed on from generation to generation.......😎
If you can't fix it with a hammer,
you have an electrical problem....
Great pics Barry, thanks.

great pics, thanks for that!..
These pics by the way date back to '46/'47. My dad is the dude in the first picture and on the right in the third picture. He's now '85 and lives in Noosa/
if he had of bought that car home and put it in storage he could OWN noosa.
He'd own more than noosa..
Nice pics
The cars didn't belong to him, it seems with the work that they did (him and his mates) they just had to ask for a car and a driver and they were supplied. He could ask for the same cars that the top Nazis had been using just a matter of months before but as he told me for long distance even Mercedes or Rolls Royces couldn't drive for too long as they had to cool down because they didn't have water pumps (the water cooling circulated by convection) where a beetle could go all day as long as it had fuel. At one time he said they stopped them from using VWs as they were dangerous and too many British had been killed whilst driving them. It eventually turned out that because alcohol was extremely cheap in the clubs used by the British alll the guys were completely pissed and probably driving on the wrong side of the road as well!
