I had one of the Jaycar ones in the back of a Superbug that had J-pipes. They are marginal at best. Don't expect them to keep you warm, they are just about good enough to demist your window, thats about all. You need to make sure that there are no draughts at all which means good bonnet and quarter light seals.

just heat up ur cigarette lighter and blow on it
will have the same desired affect
a mate tried one in his old HJ45 bone shaker for defrosting
took 10 mins b4 anything resembling warmth came off it

my sister bought a 240 volt ceramic heater for her house. It didnt work either.
