i want to rip out all the old brittle wiring going from the front of the car through the passenger side pillars and roof line and replace it with new stuff.

if i pull it all out though will i have trouble rethreading the new loom? or is it pretty much just a tube with nothing to get caught on?

Just tie a trace wire to the loom before you pull it out and then use this trace wire to pull the new loom back through. I use a late model kombi accel cable for my trace as the damn things are unbreackable and I have even tied them to the shed and rolled the beetle fwd to help pull the new loom through.

If you loom the wires with elec tape make sure you don;t wrap it to tight or it will not bend, heat shrink is best but is not cheap.

If in doubt grease the loom before you put it in.

its not impossible but can be very difficult..
I use 7 core trailer cable

I have also run it thru the tunnel from near the fuel pipe in the front ..

I have found the hardest place can be from under the seat to the engine compartment...

many people find running the interior light wire can be troublesome..
but I have interior lights on both sides...

best of luck

Just a thought: Maybe you could install the harness from a later-model Beetle; it is easy to pull from the donor car and simply runs along the floor. I did this to my Oval. Gave me indicator circuits and the regulator sits under the rear seat like a 68>

yeah im going to use 7 core trailer core, already got some. using a mouse is a great idea i dont know why i didnt think of that brad.

vwcool, id rather keep everything up in the channel as i dont run carpets etc in my car (so i can hose it out) and it would get kicked, although i do have a car i could pull one out of........

thanks guys
