depends what model and depends how low
if u got a superbug and a mig u can do it for free safely if u dont wanna go lower than 2.5"
otherwise get some adjustable struts and set whatever hieght u want
them and the inserts to match are about $400 all up
if its a standard bug just get some adjusters and weld them in
they were about $50 last time i bought some
but thats going back...

Depends what wheels you want to run
If you want to run wider than stock then you need thinner springs on your struts
I run 205 up front on mine
