Hi all, please please can you help. I'm having a very annoying problem with my 97 golf. Had the same issue on my 95 GTi previously a few years back and they could never diagnose it. Basically in wet conditions, the steering sticks and becomes very hard to move on slow turns....potentially very dangerous. It seizes up and becomes very hard to move - movement becomes jerky. Any ideas

I assume it has power steer, if so what is probably happening is when water is getting on one of the pulleys or pump belt, the belt slips badly when you turn - so no power steer, you can try are a new power steer belt as the old one may be contaminated with something that makes it slippery when wet, or try & find where/how water in fairly large amounts is drowning it, I would try option one first
Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54

Hi

It could be moisture entering the bearing on the strut tops.

How would they get on in the UK where it rains all the time??

Maybe they have covers that protect the belt and strut bearings....
