Hi all,

Still rebuilding my car and the stock engine I have is either a 1500 or 1600 (dual relief case) with single port heads. I was thinking about just putting a couple of Solex of Kadron carbs on it as it is. Is there any great advantage or is it just a waste of time and money to put dual port heads on this engine at this stage.

Also, is it a simple process to change from single to twin ports?

Thanks, Kevin
I thought rebuilding a VW would be cheap - Shit I was wrong, just don't let the wife know !!!!

yep put the twin port heads on and run the kads............you will be happy with the increase in performance.

if you were running a standard carb then I would just stay with the single port heads.

High Kev

the single port inlet manifold just restricts breathing
but they have more torque than the dual heads...

I've kept the single port heads, having replaced two of them at times over the past years...

sometimes I think I've gone the wrong way..
as I believe ratio rockers with twin port heads and twin carbs really make them go off the mark...

as mine is a bit slow off the mark.. but once it gets going its OK... for Me... lol

My Son has ratio rockers twin Webers extractors with an 1835cc engine with very wide rear wheels which he can spin easily...

I wouldn't mind the instant acceleration He has...

I have seen twin carbs on single port engines but naturally the twins breath much better..

I think You just change the heads and the inlet manifolds..
to go twin port...

Do you have a doghouse oil cooler Kev?

cheers
