Hello
Im trying too fit some SAAS seats too the front off my daughters 67 beetle. The original used a slider that was welded too the floor and then a tubular mount sat on that and the seat on top. Unfortunatly, it is all welded.
Anyway, am wondering if anyone sells a kit that I could use or modify too do the job or if anyone has pics off the mounts they have made.
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks Trevor
Most ppl, normally chop up existing seat bases (make sure they are older ones!!). Or make custom brakets. In most cases (dependant on state) you will need them enineer approved or blue plated.....
best place would be a VW workshop, as they have done this all before.
cheers
Drew
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!
when i did my old vw bug many years ago i left all the runners in place and had a plate bent out of 3 mm flat steel that went across and down each side of the old runners that gave me a new flat surface to attatch new runners from any seat
👍👍😂🙅🥷😬🤓
Hi
I've done it twice, one pitfall to watch out for is to make sure you get the seats at the correct height, one set I had to redo because when I fitted them to the car my head touched the hood lining.
Steve
My seats bolt straight onto the original tubular frame with M8 8.8 bolts, nylock nuts and 40mm washers that I moulded to the seat & frames shapes. The engineer that I used in Queensland was happy with that. The best idea of all is to find an engineer that can give you a blue plate and ask him what he would like you to do.😉
What my garage isn't messy........Well chaos is a form of order isn't it?
LOL Steve,
the joys of being a giant
ive fitted gen5 celica seats to my bug
pretty straigt forward to fit most kinds of seats to pre 74 bugs
original runners just unclip from the bottom of the vw seat and give u a sqaure flat surface to mount what ever u want
but just be aware seats any wider than the originals may not slide onto the runners when u go to install them cos they hit the door pillar
