Just some advice on cleaning blocked pilots - i changed my fuel filter and put in a bigger one, but it seems as if there still getting blocked.
Last time i pulled them out (Saturday) i noticed that one of the screw holes (ie, once the pilot jet was removed) had black muck around it. Whats the best way to clean these out??? Ear bud? Or do i risk getting fluffy stuff down there - or is that even an issue.
Some guidance would be much appreciated, Cheers Mick
Got to the last pilot and dropped the o'ring 😬 its gone!
That was also the side that had the most mess, blackish water - not thick, just dirty. This particular pilot has no 'ears' on it.
SO, you know how they clip into the housing, the bit that actually screws into the carby, well this pilot bit doesn't have the ears bit, or clips or slots, whatever you want to call them. So i think it could be dodgy and not working properly. Any thoughts? Have people either had a pilot jet like this???
Also, out of interest, what would happen if you ran the engine without the o'ring on? I thought it best not to start the car but i assume it would leak fuel???
No grief if you have a clean system. If your getting plugged jets, you must clean the bowls and use a new filter, I use an efi one as they are heaps better for many reasons.
