have you looked into the price of a Vee? A decent one costs a lot these days and even the old-school chassis are worth a bit with the classic racing community. Track car means a trailer too. $$$ add up. I'd be more inclined to pick up a cheap complete beetle and develop that on the cheap.roundtoit wrote:thanks for the info, is there anything vw you guys don't know? Sounds like a vee with a bit of work, maybe 1800 engine sliped in would make a nice economical hill climb, short circuit car. Thanks again.

Who's car did you buy ?VWMA Editor wrote:I've just purchased a relatively cheap 1600cc spec Fvee.
I compared the cost of building a circuit Beetle from scratch, engine, gearbox, roll cage, etc., or buying a purpose built track car, such as the Fvee.
The Fvee still came out on top, and they handle and perform much better than a sedan type racer.
My plans are for some Qld Fvee rounds, a hillclimb or two, and any sprints that happen to fall on a free weekend.
pod i`ve got to finish this thing one day
