Hi i hope somebody can help me coz i know a little but not alot about the brakes of my 1960 beetle but recently when i put the brakes on it starts (and continues untill i stop braking) with this big woosh woosh woosh sound like brakes clamping together n scrapping or something like they might be slipping. it also happens when i put the hand brake on???
Its there a little bit when i drive along then it will clink and clatter and then stop and both the brakes and driving it will be gone onluy for a few k's and soon starts up again though.

Anyway thats the best i can explain it if anybody has any advice it would be much appreciated.

Thanks everybody 🙂

Could be one of the following:
Shoes out of adjustment - adjust shoes
Drums out of round - have drums machined
Shoes or some part of brake assembly not in correct position - remove drums and check everything is in the right place.
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.
