who told u that load of crap
webers are one of the best bolt on improvements but u need a good zorst on as well tho
kadrons arent bad but there made to work, not work on

if u have a new carb then good chance its one of those bocar repoops
they never work out of the box
i recently put one on a mates superbug and had to completely re-jet it and frig with the accel pump to get a decent idle and remove the flat spot

there is "some truth" in what he says but you need to tell us what you wnat out of the carbs
Power?
reliablity?
economy?

What experience do you have?
none?
you can adjust mixture screws easily and correctly?
you can jet a carb?

Webers are VERY good carbs - but "I" will say not really suited for a novice on a daily driver.

Webers and Kadrons are equal to Holden Vs Ford (Webers are Holden 😀 )
Either be prepared to pay dearly to get a set of Webers tuned in to your car.
Can be expensive if they come with the wrong venturis, Emulsion tubes, main, idle and air jets - let alone a rebuild
They also tend to suffer from blocked idle jets

Kadrons are single barrels not dual like the Webers and i dont believe the vents are changeable.
So MUCH cheaper to set up.

Again "I" will say not as good as Webers but what would "I" know
More than a few people have Kads on a daily driver and never even looked at them
Others have ripped their own spleen out in fustration

Personally unless you are chasing power and if it is a daily driver i would get an original German Pict 34/3 rebushed.

I want it to go when i go round the corner and put my foot on the throttle not when it wants to go a little more power would be good can you get that by just changing your carbs if so that sounds ok if i tinker with the new 34pit carb will they take it back as i said it is about 2 months old and not pleased with it at all. so what i am saying is a little more power would be good all ready cheap to run so if it users more petrol that's not a problem which is the best way to go any advise is good advise taking it all in i just need to now which is the best way to go. Thank you. Alec

2nd hand kadrons come up from time to time
upto 400 is the going rate

i sold a set to a mate for $250 a few weeks ago
theyre probably the better choice for a stock engine
but once u go adding a better cam etc then twin throat dells/webers give better results

theyre not hard to tune once u have done it a couple of times
my complaint is nothing is easy to access with them unless u run a 36hp style shroud
mixture screws are a pain and spark plugs are just a nighmare to get at
standard kadron linkage leaves a bit to be desired too

as Barry said its luck of the draw
the pair i had were the ones that needed tweaking every few months to keep the idle speed in check but some ppl never have to touch theirs

my webers i never touch but there good old italian ones not the chinese crap theyre pumping out now

No 44s are too big. Go with 36IDFs or 40IDFs.

Well - that is a single carb

Personally $800 for a single 44 is well ................ steep.

Singles "can" be real pigs to jet

These are all bench tested and will be set up for the jets and vents you ask for.
You will find cheaper initially but not once you get them rebuilt

Pity the $$$ is down but here is exactly what you are after.
You can pick up manifolds, linkage and filters just about anywhere

This guy comes with a great reputation.
Dont know if i agree with his jetting recommendations but that is my opinion

Me - for a 1600 i would go the Weber 36

has anyone got a manifold and a good linkage? we had a really dodgy one on a beetle which is being rebuilt at home and couldnt get it tuned no matter how much " tweaking" went into it. i would need the whole lot, carbs linkages and manifolds

Read here for starters http://www.aircooled.net/gnrlsite/resource/articles/jetting.htm
Then read the Haynes Weber book
Then read the Dellorto Tune book
Then 🤪

My opinion for a 1600 for Weber jets
Dells are different names

Vents 32
Mains = 4.1 x Vents = 131.2 say 132.5 or 135
Idles = whatever the motor wants to find "best lean idle"
I would start with 50's but my 1775 wanted 45's
Airs - start at 200's
Emulsions - F11
