The rear brakes on my ghia were really hot when i got home from the last show, they seemed to be locking on,the car sits aound for a month or 2 between runs so i thought maybe the flex hoses must have swelled up as they normally do when cars sit.I replaced both rear flex hoses and found the old ones still seemed ok so i put a new master cylinder in just in case it was that.I blew out the main line from front to back while at it and rebled the whole system and damn it the problem has not changed, ive readjusted the shoes and even backed them off a bit but no change, both rear cylinders look ok and no leaks anywhere, now ive run out of ideas, all used to be fine before and the problem has started from lack of use, fronts are fine and dont drag, please help with ideas, what is wrong with the bloody thing?🤪

If the drums are hot and you've done all of that then it could be the wheelbearings about to sh*t them selves.

free play between pedal and master cylinder...........the connecting rod is adjustable to achieve this.

or over adjusted handbrake?

forgot to mention checked wheel bearings and they are still near new and there is freeplay at the master cylinder, the brakes grab when you press them and eventually release when it sits for quite a while.Could a faulty front flex hose couse the master cylinder to not return pressure for the rear as well?

A quick way to test is clamp off each brake hose one at a time until the problem is not evident......early single circut mastercylinders need to have a spacer washer fitted under the rubber plug which allows the fluid to come in.....if not fitted it may affect the fluids travell between master and resivior causing a possible lock on at the brakes...hope this suggestion offers another avenue to examine cheers steve...ps if its a dual circut master cylinder disregard last suggestion.

Have you removed the brake shoes recently and not fitted teh adjuster screws correctly with the angle section matching the brake shoe or do you have angled adjusters and straight brakes shoes

also bleed brakes first then adjust shoes then adjust hand brake in that order
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

Check to make sure you have the correct clearance between push rod and master cylinder, if you have no clearance this is the problem that normally occurs.Cheers Ron
