well it looks like all will get there way as the flat four shootout will be droped from there list of things to do for the vw scene
it's only a rumer but i know the person well and it seems that the lack of support is the main reason
this year there was really no support from the vw owners and suppliers and a general lack of cars interested enough to attend .and it is a shame as the club went out of it's way to enter any clubs event .
well thats another show going west as the bulli has gone illawara has gone soon there will only the nats
the work to put on a show starts just after xmas and does not stop it after the show has finished and the cost is a drain on any club
venues cost along with tables food drinks trophies usually runs into the thousands and that is on a small show
but all is not lost all the members that work so hard before and on the day can now rest and like everyone else do something more interesting
good by show🥲
don't get me wrong the suppliers that attended and the vw owners that entered bless them but a show need more, and a club can onle give the vw scene a venu to show there wares and vw they have built .but as the majorty have said there is not enough cars and they seem to be the same ones all the time well HELLO who is in the posdition to change that the club noooo maybe owners ummm yes
👍👍😂🙅🥷😬🤓
Hi
That very sad to hear, I was hoping to bring my car along next year.
Steve
I guess the suggestions that were made that might make the event better are all academic now.
The cruise format has worked well in the past - hopefully it will again.
More the pity, cause it had the venue to make it much better than the Nats or the Bug In.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
You can't, awesome show, give it one more year.
Its always a great day dont listen to the knockers
wheres the show they put on ????

you don't have to be able to make gelato to no if its s_ _t or not
Knockers are also constructive criticizers It depends on what side of the counter you are on
the shoot out has run the same format for years and it gets tired ( so did Alf)
you have to keep thinking of and trying new things
the venue is in the most shit area of Sydney bar none
I only ever went for the swaps
otherwise I wouldn't go near it
its not a pity it might be over
its progress

I am braking the golden rule here.
I believe if you have nothing nice to say than say nothing at all.
BUT
Silver man I dont know who you are but I know what you are and that is a real f#^ken dick.
It is people like you who have never, nor ever will put more than 1 minute into a day to do something constructive.
You must have a sad sad life for that I feel sorry for you.
Have a nice day.

hmm lets calm down i think silver is being constructive ,sometimes discussion needs a spike in it to move foward and maybe save or re do the format etc to make a better shootout . I have been to a few i liked the display won myself a trophy there and a great bunch of cars etc, missed this year though , hmm silver maybe a bit dramatic but as i said sometimes we need it to act..

Problem is... there were good thought out constructive thoughts in the previous thread. No one bothered to respond to them either.
Sadly, whatever replaces it will succumb to the same apathy if you don't listen to the people who go to the event. You run an event to get people to go... if you don't listen to them... well you know what happens then.
BTW... I do put on an event. Into it's 4th year for 2009 and the number of entrants has more than doubled since its first year - and they can't line up quick enough to pay $200 to be a part of it! So much so we will be turning away about the same number we allow to enter. Why? We listened to what those who go want and deliver it in abundance.

this is a great example of whats wrong with the shoot out, let alone the flat four club no offense intended to those that do know me. the rest just dont care its always about themselves. i really do like the members who have looked outside their own little click and have a lot of time for them even greedy
🤪 .
personally i like the location as its probably one of the best in sydney for a car show for the whole family. the show itself could do with some work, as perviously mentioned why not meet somewhere and cruise to the show.
i would have gone this year but had other commitments and was planning on being there next year whether i enter the car is a different story as i believe the scoring needs to be revised and needs to more like the hot rod scene as the current one is very subjective and doesnt cover cars that arent the norm in both stock and modified presentation.

I have to agree with Silver, Miller isnt the nicest of places to take your family !
I preferred Gledswood Homestead, It was there at least one year that I can recall, and even Had a cruise to the venue and a nice Country feel. Why have 2 shows at similar venues with similar feels (shootout & Nats)? I miss the Bulli show too, even picked up a trophy one year for my Oval. The Nats Hasnt been the same since the Drags has been dropped, and I preferred the old Oran Park feel to WSID as a spectator anyway.
The lesson learned here is you cant please every one, or stop progress, wanted or not.
R.I.P Flat Four Shootout, and thanks to the team that put it on for us for so long.
well thanks for the feed back it all helps and now the club has a feel about what to do if anything
i have owned up to putting this on the forum when i was told it looked like being droped, because i wanted to know why the attendences were so low ,with owners and suppliers and showers,
it takes a lot of effort and cash to put a show on weather someone comes or not the cost remains the same
so where is it going well i sat and listened to a chat about this and heard that it mite be going to be a long cruise with a bbq and peoples choice for 4 catagories yet to be named.
👍👍😂🙅🥷😬🤓
Sad to hear its the end of the Shootout, props to all the people involved, Organizers, Sponsors, Attendies and visitors.
I however think its a good idea to replace it with a cruise and BBQ and not have the formality of a Show, this also gets rid of the trophy hunters and makes it a friendlier environment for those who just want to hang out.
To all the guys with "constructive criticism", why don't you become members of the various clubs that you think need your help.
We all have certain ideas and expectations but only one main goal...... VW and for the last 5 years the whole scene has been STALE, how about we put our heads together and come up with something kick ass.
Anyone for "SHOW IDEAS" thread?
bitten by the bug..........several times
I have a mate with a mini and they seem to have a lot more cruise, BBQ, sprints, drag days etc. A patch of concrete, a few cones, a bbq and a way they go. They seem to have lots of fun - i like Nats, but once a year of standing in one spot for 8hours is enough for me - bring in some drag nights, some cruises - some sprint days - i would come to some of these.
Im in St George Sutherland part of Sydney and there doesn't ever seem to be much happening scene wise.
Also, the same stupid cars always win at show and shine days - if your a part of the club you seem to win. At Nats some cars won that had been there 6 years ago - the exact same. Show and shine gets boring - STALE seems to be the right word.
Whilst i understand that the judging criteria has to have limitations for each class,
i just dont understand how some cars can compete against others
( full competition V street driven / registered )
this seems to be the gripe of many, and then results in low attendance / apathy ?
was a far better judging policy than the NATS.....a Golf with a roof got 2nd top cabrio ??????
i would go again, but maybe go in late if its at the same venue, so i could go early if i wanted.
Still appreciated the effort put in by FLAT 4, thanks again, you have some good people in your club.
Step up to get out !!!
To flatfour. Hats off to you guys. You've put it out there and made a show happen. I know about organizing events and all the criticism and stress that surrounds them. I didn't go to the shootout (work kept me away from them all for the last few years), but I would love to have got to all of them. 👍
On the other hand, I'd also love to have some events that were more ACTION and less CHROME. I have enormous repect for show car builders, but I have little interest in a car that is better at standing still than driving. Seems like a contradiction in terms to me. What about a series of khana type events? Low cost, low risk action. And maybe you could run a few on a saturday too please?
I'd love to be part of your club too, however again, work keeps me away from almost all your meetings. 🙁
I called it here 18 months ago on the shootout, do something to attract more people or things will cease to exist
Call me names or call me nostradamus I don't care
My criticising a lazy effort is not ruining the VW scene
its the lazy effort that is ruining it

So since those 18 months, what have you done about contributing to the VW scene?
Surely if you are going to revive a thread from 2008, you have some constructive input?

Silver, there's nothing in your reply above (and no that wasn't meant to be sarcastic) so I'm not sure what happened to your post. Anyway see my reply on
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=81713 as I'm not sure that we need to continue two threads.
