Hi, I'm after a 1600 or 1500S badge for the rear of my 1971 1500S Beetle. Either badge will do as the car is a 1500S but it has a 1600 twin port motor in it. I searched everywhere but no one seems to make reproduction badges...

Any suggestions? Much appreciated!!

Sorry I should've been more clear, I'm after either a "VW 1600" or a "VW 1500 S" badge, so yes that VW 1600 one you have is perfect! What condition is it in? Could you please email me a photo? My mobile is broken... Thanks

There was no such thing as a 1971 1500S beetle..

there was the 1302S Superbug which was 1600

and the 1300 Non super with the 1300 engine

the 1500S was an IMported type 3 halfback or Notchback
it had high compression Pistons/heads and twin Carburetors.

the local 1500S type 3 was called the 1500 Twin S as it had twin carburetors but no high compression etc..

the "S" badge was over the number plate lamp...

PS: thats why there are No 1500S badges...

although You could put a "VW1500" badge along with an "S" badge... use pins plus double sided tape.

Ok, my bad, I guess my 1971 Beetle is just a 1500 model then, but it does have the rare vinyl covered black dash. It's not a Super or L bug. It does have a non-original twin port reco'ed 1600 motor in it, that's why I would be happy with a "VW 1600" badge. I got an old "Volkswagen" badge that fits on the engine cover too, but it's missing the last letter on the badge, so i won't do. At the moment the car has a "VW 1300" badge on it that was incorrectly bought by the previous owner of the car, plus it looks terrible due to it being old and the chrome is peeling off...

the padded dash certainly isnt rare, it was fitted to all flat screen bugs after 11/72

unless someone has retrofitted a padded dash to ur bug it sounds u have a just have a 1300 standard bug

has it got disc or drum brakes on the front??
the compliance plate behind the spare tyre will give u the build date and chassis number

Well, I checked out the VIN of my car and it turns out it's a 1973 Beetle, not 71. The guy i bought the car from told me it is a "S" Beetle, or sports version in his own words. Is this possible for a 1973 Beetle? And as far as the engine, not sure what engine would've been in it originally, so is there anyway to tell what model Beetle it is as in 1300, 1500 or 1600?
