I have a second hand one, I have stripped at the moment. I picked it up going in a car that I needed the floor pan from.

I have stripped it over the past 2 nights down to the block, and it looks great inside. It has been rebuilt, recently by the looks of it. Case savers installed, case was split last time by the looks of it. All the internals feel tight.

The Cylinders look good, but I will give them a quick hone.
The heads look perfect, but I will clean them and check for cracks, lap the valves and reinstall.

I should have it all back together with new seals and gaskets by Christmas. Then I will compression test it and rerun it in on my test bench and have a good idea of its quality.

PM me if this is of interest, and I will keep you up to date with the tidy up.

Hi Annika, I have a 1600 engine out of a Type 3 wagon that I would be willing to part with for the right price. However, I'm in western Victoria so the freight to get it to you might be a killer. PM me if interested and I can try to suss out a price for the freight.

Dino.

condor, this is complicating the task for Annika as the tinware etc is rather different esp around the cooling area ... for a t1 beetle. hppy nevwyear
