Morning all, finally got back to working on my original 1968 beetle and been cleaning up the block ready to be put back together. Just a few questions.

When cleaning up the motor i came apron this welsh plug sitting under it, Any idea where the hell this thing comes from? , I have had a good look but i cant find it for the life of me (and I'm guessing its a good idea to replace them with a brass one?). Also is there any use in replacing that oil metal bit (what is it even called?).

More questions, on the front end i have the good old adjustable beams now i washed them down do i need to pack grease anywhere? Same goes for the rear end?

Is there any problems in powder-coating or painting the front end?

Any help on all this would be great. Thanks in advance.

as ken pointed out thats just the cam plug and the oil deflector plate if its not damaged or bent its fine to reuse
altho most seal kits come with a new one
its only to stop the crank throwing the oil up into the breather
that is when its installed the right way up and facing the right way
