Hey guys and girls
I have been on the vw scene for quite some time... i worked at Volkspower in Burwood (Melbourne) for over 2 years when i was 15 doing a pre-app.
My first car was a 1968 1500 bug.
i bought the car when it was resprayed...but i saw some rust coming through so i ripped the whole car apart to find more and more... so over the space of about a year i got all of that fixed by the welder that lives across the road for a very reasonable price ๐
in the finding of the rust i knew it would be a long project so i bought a mk1 golf 4 door...then another and another haha. I then took bits and pieces from all of them and received a rust free 2 door (GLS) sheel ๐ i then built it up and spent lots of time and effort prepping and re-building the car...
last week i wrote the car off at 4am in he morning...i was tired and the road wasn't well lit.
So i have just begun to get the bug ready for rego ๐
I am also a part of VWwatercooled but since i don't have a watercooled car at the present time i thought what a better idea than to join this forum ๐
So any way my name is Stuart and i turned 18 in september ๐ I'm very passionate about my dubs and have learn't a lot from working as a mechanic, so i can help you guys out and share my knowledge whilst also gaining knowledge from you all.
Cheers
Stu

should be painting the outside this weekend ๐
Some new stuff i received ๐ and some work
paint (changing it to a darker red i don't like this one...
was too hot when i sprayed it... need s a buff ๐
motor...yummmm 48IDA's
new 40 horse tails
nice...
Welcome!!! Lookin great so far!!! Good job!!! ๐
thought i would post up some stuff i have fixed on my dubb!
can't find any pics of when i first got it ๐ but i will keep trying! it was an ugly mettalic brown colour...then i noticed a bit of rust!!! so i sanded it back and back and back to find more and more...popped the windows sure enough...RUST! so i sent the car across the road to the welder and paid him to fix it all...now its rust free ๐
Before i did the body work i replace the plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor button, points and did a gearbox oil change and a motor oil change...runs like a dream!!! i started it it first crank after about 9 months of sitting there last week ๐
anyway here is the begining, first the damage:
battery floor
Rear window
left A pillar
will have to take a pic of what it looks like now...has a brand newy welded in there ๐
have to get a pic of that now too
new guard threads
Cleaned under the guards to prep for body deadening
primmed the boot (under the bonnet :P weird germans!)
Body deadened
Painted interior
Engine bay (1500 single port, single barrel solex)
Funny story about these hotwires... got them from dean for free...for washing his car!!!!! good tread all around!! 205's on the rear and 195's on the front ๐
interior
my camera can't even pick it up... but its the smoothest job ever! no peel and its like glass ๐ SPRAYED IN MY BACK YARD!!! then some elbow grease!
all hung just the rear 2 pieces to go ๐
bottom isn't the greatest but the seat covers that ๐
so basically i just have to buff the rest of the interior and then prep the rest of the outside and paint it ๐ WEEKEND HERE WE COME!
some more progress..
will be working my arse off this weekend to try and finish the prep work and then paints the whole car... the bits you see in cream undercoat are ready for colour.
Also received my new carpet in the mail today ๐
