I hope that anyone on here that's from the bushfire affected parts of Victoria are ok and my deepest sympathies go out to anyone affected.

What a tradgedy! So far the death toll has climbed to 35 and they are expecting that to rise!

Spare a thought today for those brave men and women out there fighting the blazes in such horriffic conditions and if it's your thing, have a word to the big fulla upstairs as I'm sure that our people could use a few prayers right now.

At least you can escape floods...fires don't give you anywhere to go. Hope no more lives are lost...🙁

the death toll is now past 50 with still more expected. Some of the lives lost include families of our firefighters doing what they could to help. It's a sad sad day for our nation.

I also heard that there are serious bushfires near Scone. 68AutoBug...Lee...be careful mate. Don't take any risks. Thinkin of ya.

84 deaths & climbing. It is also believed that veteran news reader Brian Naylor & his wife have perished in the Vic fires.Whilst prayers may help it must also be said that a hearty cry of thanks must go to the countless Firies & volunteers who have given their time to do as much as they can in this tragedy that is so overwhelming.Without them the situation would only have been worse.

I just read the death toll now stands at 84.
When you couple this firestorm tragedy with the horrific flooding in QLD, I'd say you Aussies have had more than your share of natural disasters this year.
My heartfelt sympathies to all who have lost loved ones and property in these terrible conditions.

Deepest Regards,
Steve

Nobody here has been affected??? Have been home sick from work today and watching all the news coverage about the bush fires and some of the stories are simply unbelievable.

Good to see the australian public digging into their pockets and donating to the red cross appeal. Makes me proud to be an Aussie.👍

Black Sunday indeed,
A very very sad time for all of Australia...
My heart goes out to all those poor souls lost and the familys and friends left behind...
I just cant believe the amount of devastation and carnage these fires have caused...
I have never seen anything like this before,I seen Warragamba burn here in Sydney a few years ago,
and remember thinking how could so many houses be burned and propety lost with the tecnology we have these days...
I guess our tecnology is no match for Mother Nature...
if it looks like crap smells like crap then guess what!!!!!

It is a very sad time for all of Australia. Having been through a bushfire that was nowhere near the magnitude of these ones it amazes me that anyone survived in some of the areas affected. The devastation is just incredible. It breaks my heart to see the stories that have come out in last few days. Hopefully the community all over Australia can pull together and give the survivors some hope of a brighter future. It brings back memories of the fires here in 2003 and how easily everything can be lost but also that lives are not replaceable but possessions are.

Wasn't asking for those affected to reply but moreso if anybody knows of someone from here who might have.

Just saw footage of a house with a bay window Kombi burnt out beside it. the house next door the Police found multiple bodies inside which is just tragic.

181 killed so far with another possible 100 still to be found in rubble.

It's horrific. I was caught in the Canberra bushfires a few years back and it was the scariest experience of my life. I really feel for those affected. My daughters school is doing fundraisers to help in what small way they can. It is nice to see so many people reaching out a helping hand or digging deep to play their part in helping.

A good mate of mine lives in Kinglake West and he managed to save his house (just). He is very lucky to be alive...His wife and daughter tryed to escape in the car but they couldn't get out of their driveway as the smoke was so thick (2 to 3 meteres of visibility) so they had to come back and help save the house and themselves. They are still stuck on their property, not being allowed to leave.
If they had of driven out in the car there is no way that they would have survived. The amount of cars that crashed and got caught in the fire is unbelievable, they were everywhere, in ditches, hit trees, hit eachother...No one could see where they were going.
