Hiya,
I've got 2 engines that came with the '59 Bug I just bought but the codes make no sense to me and I'd like to know what size they are.
One code is V692728P with WC stamped below it and the other is 8560588 with W4 stamped below it.
The engine code is the number stamped below the generator stand?
thanks
madness is in the eye of the beholder 👍
yea it is
first one looks like a vic police issued number but that 2nd has to many digits to be stock number or is the 8 a B?
they single port motors?
joel is probably right about the Vic police number as NSW use N--------P, the other one may be a reco engine case from years ago,I assume they are either 36 or 40hp engines. Some engine reconditioners used to add their own codes back in the 60's. cheers Les
Hiya guys.
yep, they are single port motors. The vehicle was bought from Victoria so that would explain the first engine. As for the second engine i s'pose it could be a reco as it turns quite easily with no endplay to speak of and looks more like an 8 than a B but if it is a B what size is that?
s'pose means i'll have to take the engines apart to figure out the cc's unless you have any other ideas?❗

ok here are some wierd ones. i just bought.
engine 1. generator stamp = H 0921 641
side of case / sump = 11 vw symbol 000.101.102 A
engine 2. genny stamp = T 0896928X (exchange motor??)
side of case / sump = 13 vw symbol 000.101.101
both single port..very limited info on these engine codes. think on is 1500 type 1 or 2. and the other is type 3 1600, but its upright...
