they look nice
but
they don't have to comply with any safety standards in china...
it takes a full day to buy a car in China... ??
and most owners don't know anything about cars...
no checking oil - tyre pressures- etc..
many young owners are members of car clubs and go for sunday drives etc..
all in bumper to bumper traffic....

Ok guys heres the rundown of each photo......
No.1 has a poster of the Passat Lingyu (based on Skoda Superb/Passat B5 platform) and a Chinese only Lavida (basically the first fully Asian design to come out of this venture its based on Mk4 Golf/Bora components.)
No.2 is the Passat Lingyu again
No.3 is Santana Vista basically a 1980s Passat/Santana remodelled in the early 1990s by VW Brazil and later China.
No.4 Santana 3000 bascially an earlier version of the Santana Vista 😀
No.5 is the B5 Passat but it has a LWB by upto 100mm giving it a length of 4.8m instead of 4.7m.

I've been to China several times and about 60%+ of the cars are vw's. There are also a lot of Jeeps and Pajeros.

Lee the Chinese VWs are no less safe than the rest of the world-wide VW range.
The Polo Classic - the booted version of the Polo hatch - was sold in Australia in the early 2000s. It was made in China, the first ever Chinese made car to be sold in Australia. It met all our design and safety regulations.
There is a potential for more Chinese-made VWs to be sold here in future.
