whats the ratio and benifits of this box of rebuilding a stock 2ltr box?
Andrew, I was offering it to miniman Matt months ago. It's not mine remember. I have been waiting for ages for Mark to pull his finger out and send me some pics to post, took him till last night cause I offered him my old 914 back as I have this big baby now.
acn9479, the benifits are these boxes are they're STRONG.....BUT you need to be running the big offroad rubber to get the gearing useable. I believe the ratios are
4.33,2.41,1.32,0.92;final 5.85. They run 400hp offroad racing and 700hp circuit racing..... stock std, and that is the 5 speed, aparently the 4 speed [ZF 4DS-18] is stronger than the UN-5. Full Albins gears are also available if you want to customise the ratios. I must say this is not from my own experiences but what I have been told over the years.

Does anyone know if these boxes can be flipped around/over??
Not sure if these can have the crown wheel flipped internally. I'll indevour to find out.

Mark is going to pull bell housing tonight and check visually, but we do know that the adapter [box to bell housing] would have to be reworked for clearance also. No big deal. The the type of c/w to pinion mesh we also need to check. Any one have any knowledge here?

With Bell housing off, looks like c/w could be flipped, unsure of hypoid mesh tho.
