Will 17" x 7" Porsche Twists fit on a stock 1971 standard bug, without modification.

I have discs up front and drums in the back and thats it, i really like the look and want 17 inch rims.

Also how much will a set cost me.

And also window tinting, is mirror tint legal in NSW, and what is the darkest legal tint.

Also how much should it cost for my bug to get window tinitng.

Thanks Josh

U will have to re drill and stud the hubs for the stud pattern for a start
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

Like vw54 says you've got the wrong stud pattern for a start. Redrilling is one option, or else change the rotors and drums for the 5x130 versions.

Also 7" is pretty wide to be fit under standard front guards, but it _might_ work depending on the offset of the rims.

Cost, well it'll depend on where you get them. I've seen 17" twists go for $700 - $1000 on ebay, but they've always been wider than 7"... like 7.5" and 8.5".

i'll just throw in my $0.02 as im eventually fitting them on mine as well

firstly your better off just buying replacement drums and discs from one of the suppliers already in that pattern as A- 4lug vw brakes dont have enough meat inside for 5x130. my black bug had porsche wheels fitted this way and there is only about 4mm of meat left in 3 out of the 5 studs and also B- redrilling is illegal in NSW unless you have studs pressed in.
check how worn your current drums and brakes are they may be to far gone to even bother
no point spending the $$ restudding them if they only good for 50,000kms

you will also need to think about narrowing the front end abit as with 7" rims on a BJ u end up with the turning circle of a bus with stock front end and finally u may also need to think about wider rear gaurds as turbo twists 99.9% of the time have 8.5 rears which dont really fit under stock rear gaurds to well

if your on a budget you can always pick up second hand vault crystals with tyres for around the $600 mark

porsche wheels are always gonna be way more exy than all the boy racer chromies

Have to say I agree with what Joel's said.

Budget and Porsche are two words that just don't go together.

The 7 " rims are fronts, not easy to buy a full set of 4 in that size.
The brake changes are available from "volks converions " in QLD
They (7") should fit under your gaurds but may rub. (offset will put them inside, backspacing is the issue)
"Machine 7" in the UK have ben selling porsche cup wheels for a while.
"German look" is cool & worth the effort.
Good luck.
Step up to get out !!!

I already have front discs.

I have emailed volks conversions and got a price for 2 new rotors and 2 new drums drilled at a custom pcd. This is gunna cost 600 inc postage.
Is that a good price for new brakes.

I have no idea about the offset or the backspacing of the vault crystals, i also am aware that i wil need low profile tyres.

I believe ill need a rim with an offset of something between 34 and 42. Is that correct?

What about 16" Porsche Boxster wheels
They are 6" 50ET front and 7" 40ET rear
Fit much better than twists and about 1/2 the price

Have seen as cheap as $450 for wheels only no caps

They look good but im reallly after 17s.

I get my ps in five weeks and want some big rims to cruise on, spmething to get the girls to have look.
I also would prfer more rubber on the road for obvous racing reasons.

I think im gunna go with the "racer boy" rims.

Now is 600 a good price for new discs and rums drilled to any pcd. As without the new pcd no point havin new rims.

$600 is a good price
just make sure they are uniform thickness
You can get blank Brazillian/Mexican drums that are really for 4 bolt.
Look on the inside and you will see a + webbing - this is only thich in the 4 bolt pattern
No point paying all that money and not getting what you want

As for the 16"'s
I run 205/55 on the front and 225/50 on the rear - all under stock guards
Dont know how much more rubber you want

Also the Boxster fit with no spacers
You need a sizable spacer to get Twists to fit - and you will never get it engineered with spacers

Whatever - enjoy
