With the world's economic downturn, Toyota's sales have slumped 47% over last year, while GM is almost in receivership. VW's global sales are down only 11%, but VW's world market share has increased.
Current sales trends indicate that Volkswagen will overtake both GM, and Toyota, in sales for the first quarter of the year, and will become the world's largest car company.
