What would one expect to pay for a lid in : (a) in good nick🙁b) in poor condition ?????
Rust is the new 2-pac.
a. 400-500 b. 50-5
Customer service is not dead in Australia.
Always after HAZET & MATRA & VW factory tools
buy one onf the repros ones there extreamly well made from Vintage 02-9789-1777
even if you do manage to find a decent one you will spend another 4 or 5 hundred repairing and paint stripping etc etc
Also depends if you include the tail light, hinges & spring. A mint taillight can be $100, hinges aren't much but add $$$ to the weld repair and the 53-55 springs are ~$30 and the 56-57 springs are ~$5.
The price of the new one I saw at Dubs by the Pub was $850. On The Samba they are US$340.
Thanks for the info.....this is becoming quite an education.....
Rust is the new 2-pac.
And remember 54-55 are different and usually fetch more than a late 55-57 version.
The difference is the triangle at the top. One for a big spring and one for a small spring.
I think I have a very good rust free 54 W lid spare but top dollar asked.

C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.
As a relative newby to bugs, thanks for the quick and informed input from members......
Rust is the new 2-pac.
yes the early and late W engine lids were different where the spring attaches
the new ones available are the later type
but a new section could be made and spot weled into place to match the pre 55 type lid
T54......so how much for your lid....$$$$..??????
