what risky said,
a 69 shouldnt have the cable conduit, that generally started after 70, putting one in is a painfull job but not as bad as welding in trailing arm pivots and getting them deadly accurate and beating down the chassis forks to clear CVs

other than putting in the mounts in rest just involves swapping over all the manual parts like shift rod, pedal assembly etc

I'm having to revise some of my 1969 auto pan conversion bits...
Mine didn't have a clutch tube... not happy!
But since installed one some time last xmas...

but if u can confirm whether you are the lucky one to have a clutch tube already in there, if ur unlucky i can have a detailed chat to ya. You got to be handy with an angle grinder and welder.... cut into the 'tunnel' in about 2 places.
and of course, drill a hole for hte tube to go out hte back... tack in on there, tack it on somewhere in the middle of the tunnel, and tack it on just behind the 'clutch cable hook' on the pedal assembly.

You will need:

- as Joel stated, shifter...
- reverse lock out plate
- shifter rod! (auto is shorter by about an inch)
- pedal assembly (late model, anything pre 67 won't do, well, i had trouble. the assembly pushed up on the fuel lines inside, and the later pedal assemblies do look different.)
- & of course, irs gearbox

Rumour has it the semi auto axles are shorter than the manual ones.... i can't confirm, but another thing you willl have to look at.

I'd rather weld in a clutch tube than an irs conversion. Its far more tolerant when it comes 'inacuracy', As long as it holds in tight, near factory ID tube with decent tube wall thickness, and tacked in appropriately near the pedals, and exiting out as close to the passenger side rear fork as possible, ur set.

you can keep the semi auto shifter and just cut the wire to the contacts but definatley need a manual shift plate
i think u may be right on the axles to chris, i vaguely remember that one side is longer than the other but might be thinking of type3 autos

Hiya Joel,
i vaguely remember that one side is longer than the other but might be thinking of type3 autos
The halfshafts on an AutoStick are the same side for side. I'm not familiar with the Type 3 fully automatic but I'd bet you are thinking about that.
